Molnija Military Pocket Watch - Order of Glory

A wonderful 15 jewel manual wind mechanical watch that shows the Order of Glory medal. Only 950-1000  Orders of Glory were ever made making them very rare. The picture on the medal is that of the Kremlin Wall as though you were standing in Red Square (famous during the Soviet era for the May Day parades etc). In the medal is the word ÑËÀÂÀ pronounced Slava which means Glory. It was established 8th November 1943 and was awarded to non-commissioned officers of the ground forces and to air force personnel up to and including the rank of junior lieutenant for "glorious deeds" while on active service; the degree of achievement determines the class awarded, there were three classes in total.

In the rear of the case is a star with hammer & sickle centre piece with the words again in Russian Cyrillic saying 'Velikaya Otechestvennaya 1941-1945' which translated means 'Great Patriotic War 1941-1945'. This commemorates the Second World War for the Soviet Union. The face of the watch is a typical Molnija engrave ornate style with seperate second dial and Roman Numerals around the edge.
