A wonderful 15 jewel manual wind mechanical watch that shows the Soviet ORDER OF GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR, a medal that has the traditional Hammer & Sickle in the centre with the words in Cyrillic around the edge saying 'Otechstvennaya Voyna' meaning 'Patriotic War',
This order came in two classes: 1st Class-Established 20 May 1942. It was awarded to officers and enlisted men of the armed forces and security troops and to partisans, irrespective of rank, for skilful command of their units in action.
2nd Class-Established 20 May 1942. It was also awarded to officers and enlisted men of the armed forces and security troops and to partisans, irrespective of rank, for lesser personal valour in action.
In the rear of the case is a star with hammer & sickle centre piece with the words again in Russian Cyrillic saying 'Velikaya Otechestvennaya 1941-1945' which translated means 'Great Patriotic War 1941-1945'.
