A wonderful 15 jewel manual wind mechanical watch that shows the Soviet ORDER OF LENIN, a medal that has a bust engraving of Lenin with the traditional Hammer & Sickle at the bottom with a red star to the left. The word in Cyrillic at the top says Lenin.
This order was the highest national decoration of the Soviet Union. It was established 6th April 1930 and was awarded to civilians for outstanding services rendered to the State, to members of the armed forces for exemplary service, and to recipients of the titles of Hero of the Soviet Union and Hero of Socialist Labour. It was also awarded to factories, cities, regions, and republics. Originally, this award was very highly regarded. Nikita Khrushchev was the 110th person to receive the award in 1935 for supervision of the excavation of the Moscow Metro.
On the rear case of the watch is an engraved figure showing a soldier in traditional Soviet Style raising his weapon into the air encouraging great patriotic deed from his fellow soldiers. The watch face is typical molnija being stylishly white with offset second hand and black 12 & 24 hour numbering around the edge.
