This Automatic 'Naval Submarine' model has two tone grey & black dial with black hands and polished numbered chrome bezel & case. The submarine depicted is believed to be an early diesel electric though the picture seems very stylised. This watch varies from the other Naval Submarine models in that it has an inscription beneath the Sub picture. In Russian the inscription says, ‘Kaptain Podvodnoy Lodkey’ which in English means ‘Captain of the Submarine’, a very interesting edition.
At its peak in 1980, the Soviet submarine force numbered 480 boats, including 71 fast attacks and 94 cruise and ballistic missile submarines. Because the names of individual Soviet submarines are seldom known abroad, the usual practice is to refer to them only as a member of a submarine class. The most widely known class names are those assigned as code names by NATO, such as Alfa, Charlie, and Kilo.
The standard Navy emblem of the Anchor is shown in the six o'clock position beneath the seaborne submarine finishing off a wonderful timepiece designed and manufactured especially for Russian Military personnel. These automatic wind watches, uncompromising in design, strength and durability have kept the Military on time for those important events that people never hear about!
