This model is one of four in the range and this one shows the Soviet ORDER OF VICTORY (CCCP in centre) and the picture in the medal is of the Kremlin Wall as though you were standing in Red Square (famous during the Soviet era for the May Day parades etc). Below is the word ПОБЕДА pronounced Pobeda which means Victory and below that 60 ЛЕТ meaning 60 Years. So this watch commemorates the 60th Anniversary of the Victory of WWII.
The Order of Victory was the highest Soviet military decoration. Established 8 November 1943. It was awarded to members of the armed forces high command for successfully conducting combat operations involving one or more army groups, and resulting in a radical change of the situation in favor of the Soviet Armed Forces. The award is constructed of platinum, gold, silver, enamel, and studded with 174 separate diamonds and 5 five-carat synthetic rubies. This was the only Soviet award to be made in a jeweller's workshop and not at a mint. It was awarded to 11 Marshals of the Soviet Union, 1 Soviet Army General, and 5 foreigners. The Soviet Dictator and Generalissimo of the USSR I. "Joseph" V. Stalin and Marshals of the USSR G. K. Zhukov and A. M. Vasilevsky were given the award twice.
The Military Komandirskie watch is a timepiece designed and manufactured especially for Russian Military personnel. These manual wind timepieces, uncompromising in design, strength and durability have kept the Military on time for those important events that people never hear about!
This watch has been made by hand in Chistopol at the Vostok Watch & Clock Factory for us. We have commissioned several models that are not currently available to the general public and we hope you find some Vostok Watch design you like among the 30 plus designs we currently have available.
