THE VOSTOK WATCH STORY
The Vostok Watch story started in 1942 when one of the Moscow watch-making plants was evacuated from Moscow to a little town located on the Kama River called CHISTOPOL. Defence equipment was the only company output during war years, but as soon as the war was over it started making mechanical wrist watches - its main production item ever since.
The company was appointed an official supplier of watches for the Defence Department of the Soviet Union in 1965. This year marks the creation of the world-famous "Komandirskie" "Commander" watch.
Military watches grew very popular over the years due to their high precision, excellent reliability and durability. The appearance of the watches and the extensive historical links with the Soviet Military brings them great appeal to collectors and one off purchasers alike. The experience gained through development of the army watches was the foundation of Vostok’s next special watch the "Amphibian". This impressive timepiece in a stainless-steel case can endure depths of 2000 meters and have been tested at these depths, so the guarantee of 200m waterproof is pretty conservative. Success of the professional watches determined the company's present philosophy, to create mechanical watches that give precise timekeeping at any temperature, in any environment whilst maintaining high survivability rates.
This philosophy is now time-proven and a vast multitude of people both in Russia and abroad buy "Vostok" watches and their reputation grows throughout the world.
